I just wanted to drop in for a quick report as I sprint for the finish line (to paraphrase a fellow NaNoWriMo-er friend of mine) . . .
The story took a very unexpected turn—both thematically and in storyline—over the long weekend. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. It does really help tie the title into the story a lot more, but in a way I hadn't really been expecting.
Enough for now . . . 9,000 words to go, 39 hours left. Yikes.

Well, Week 3 has been an interesting one. I had a huge spike of progress over the weekend, but I'm still lagging seriously behind in word count. Still, when I look at the number of words/pages I've written so far this month, I am rather pleased.
I have two long drives ahead of me for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. I hoping that my muse will be hitching a ride along as well, whispering to me during the long, boring stretches of Highway 5.
We'll see what the long weekend brings . . .

Clichés mostly come to mind this week: "Slow, but steady" and, the Fremen favorite, "The slow way is the sure way."
My muse has spent most of the week speaking to me in sound bites—rationing out the story one single scene at a time. I've been making progess, but incredibly, painfully slowly. I am way behind where I need to be, word-count-wise, but at least am writing consistently. So, it's not all bad. Any number of words greater than zero is a good thing!
I'm beginning to think that my muse is also using NaNoWriMo as an excuse to get me to exercise more. She tends to speak to me more when I'm out taking a walk. Coincidence? I wonder . . .
Well, back to it . . .

Argh!
The week started out very well. Up until yesterday, I met or exceeded by planned word count for the day. And then the muse decided to become stubborn. I thought I had loaded the deck by using a story idea I had been tossing around for a couple years, but have never actually written anything for. Yeah, that worked well.
This morning, I received an e-mail from my local NaNoWriMo Municipal Liaison. It covered dead-on exactly what I'm going through. Simply put: Week 2 sucks!
Anyway, enough about all that. I just wanted to drop in with a quick report.
The . . . ahem . . . "adventure" continues . . .
